Best of the Week: The Mountain

So, I know the week isn't over yet and I apologize for jumping the gun a bit, but I'm worried that I won't have to to get this blog done so I'm doing it while I have time. I'm already assuming that my favorite thing this week will be "The Mountain" video.

I saw that this video is now on the homework page!! Yayyy! But, I'm upset because my computer is old and cant process the greatness of this video without staggering. So, I'm going to have to go to a friend's house soon (one who has a nice computer) and force them to watch it because I loved it so much.

I realize that although this it not really something that was "planned" for our class and some may say it served no purpose but I thought it was beautiful. All of these lanscapes forced me to appreciate the world we live in and love and cherish Earth so much. Not only were the lanscapes stunning, but so was the music. This piano piece was perfect for this video and really enhanced the expirience for me.

The internet is such a cool thing because it's nice to know that not only our class has taken the time to watch this video but also that billions of people have access to this.

The lanscapes that I ejoyed the most were the ones with all the stars in the sky. I know a lot of people who  have visited rural places and they always say things like, "I've never in my life seen so many stars!!!" and I always just assume its just like when I'm up at my lakehouse and I can see a decent amount of stars but those pictures where unbelievable. This video has inspired me to travel to places like Alaska, or the middle of Nevada, where I will be out in the open with the stars.

Anyways, it just made me happy. I needed something like this.

Bloggin' 'Round

I responded to Alex Friedrich's and Benjy Wax's posts. Alex talks about the movie Once and how it made her realize how many different individual lives and stories there are in the world. Benjy talks about meeting kids in gym class that you might never meet otherwise.

"Hey Alex! I'm happy that you listen to Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova! Did I tell you that I went to one of their concerts last summer?

As for individual stories, I know exactly what you're talking about! Remember when we talked about this in the car the other day?! I didn't know you wrote a blog about it! haha, but anyways, I have been thinking about this a lot lately too, especially when i see airplanes. I get to windering where the people are going, coming from, what they're planning to do, and what they have done. It's fun to imagine and also mind-blowing to realize that there are sooo many different stories out there.

Also! When i get letters from Bradley University they talk about this too! I've gotten post cards with people's little "Bradley Stories." It's cute but its also cool to know that we can synthesize ideas from Once, your life, my life, Kairos, public transportation, college and much much more!"

"Benjy, I dont think i tell you enough how great you are. This is cool. And i agree. And it's interesting that even though gym is mandatory, you DO still get choices as to which type of gym you're in BUT even through that we situations that youre describing take pla ce. Last year, I took adventure ed 1 and 2 and weirdly, both classes became really close so i knew and talked to some of the kids i never would have even met otherwise. This year, first semester, i took aerobics, which was full of a bunch of girls that were too overwhelming for me to handle but nonetheless, I still met new people. Then i was in your weights class for two weeks. which i hates. and finally I'm in lifetime, which i would argue is the definition of what youre describing. It's just regular ol' gym class. And you meet the weirdest, coolest, funniest bunch of kids. I guess basically I'm just re-telling what you said in your blog but i just want you to know that i agree and it's really cool that you thought of this. You should write a book about it. or song. and we can do it for spring fling. see ya tomorrow benj."
